Spokane: National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

~ Mayor Nadine Woodward has directed that all flags at City facilities in Spokane be lowered on Thursday, December 7th, in honor of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. This directive follows President Joseph R. Biden's order for all state agency facilities to lower their flags.

"We encourage anyone with a flag outside their home or business to join us in honoring the Americans killed and injured during the Pearl Harbor attack," said Mayor Woodward.

Congress created National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day in 1994 to commemorate the 2,403 Americans who lost their lives and the 1,178 service members who were wounded in the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. A proclamation from Mayor Woodward is available for further information.
