~ As the City of Springfield continues to recover from a recent storm, the Department of Environmental Services is taking steps to support residents and contractors in clearing debris. The Yardwaste Recycling Center (YRC) and Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill will be extending their hours on Sunday, May 11 and Monday, May 12 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in addition to their regular Tuesday-Saturday schedule.

According to Solid Waste Superintendent Dan Jessen, the YRC has already received over 22,000 cubic yards of brush since the storm on April 29. On Saturday alone, nearly 1,000 visitors came to the facility. This is almost four times the usual traffic for a spring Saturday, demonstrating the community's commitment to disposing of debris responsibly.

Residents are encouraged to bring organic storm debris such as tree limbs and brush to the YRC located at 3790 S. Farm Road 119 in Brookline for proper disposal. Larger or commercial-scale debris should be taken to the Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill at 3545 W. Farm Road 34 in Willard.

It is important to note that only the YRC and Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill will have extended hours. The Lone Pine and Franklin Avenue Recycling Centers will continue with their regular schedules and residents are reminded that there is a limit of two bags or bundles per visit.

The City and County are working together with partners to assess needs and determine next steps in the community's recovery efforts. Residents are asked to provide information about storm damage and debris by completing a form on springfieldmo.gov/storm if they still have debris on their property.

For those who need assistance with transporting debris, resources are available by contacting the Public Information Call Center at (417)829-6200. Volunteers are also needed for cleanup efforts and can get involved by calling the Office of Emergency Management at (417)872-6720, contacting their neighborhood association, or visiting VolunteerOzarks.com.
