The Springfield Fire Department is pleased to announce that Fire Marshal Jeremy Gohl has successfully completed the Springfield Police Department's Lateral Academy on December 1st. This advanced training program provides instruction in various areas such as criminal law, investigative techniques, defensive tactics, community engagement, and operational procedures.
With this additional training, Fire Marshal Gohl is now better equipped to seamlessly integrate with law enforcement partners during multi-agency incidents and investigations. This milestone achievement not only benefits the fire department but also strengthens the partnership between fire and police services in the City of Springfield.

According to Fire Chief David Pennington, "Fire Marshal Gohl's dedication to expanding his training and expertise is a testament to the professionalism we value in our department." He further added that Gohl's graduation from the SPD Lateral Academy will enhance their capabilities in fire investigations, interagency coordination, and public safety response.
Gohl has been a valuable member of the Springfield Fire Department and will continue his role within the Fire Prevention Bureau. His expanded skills will greatly contribute to the department's mission of protecting life and property. The fire department extends its congratulations to Gohl for this significant achievement and thanks the Springfield Police Department for their continued partnership and commitment to cross-departmental training.
