Springfield: SPD graduates 17 officers from 77th Police Academy

Springfield, Mo. ~ The Springfield Police Department will be graduating its most diverse police academy class on Friday, December 8th at 7 p.m. at Park Crest Baptist Church. This class of 17 recruits began their 1,073 hours of intense law enforcement training in June and will now be assigned to an experienced field-training officer for the next 16 weeks for an additional 640 hours of on-the-job training.

The graduates include 14 men and three women with a variety of educational backgrounds and work experience, including the military, corrections, medical, and previous law enforcement. The ceremony will be livestreamed on CityView and the Springfield Police Department's Facebook page beginning at 7 p.m.

This is the 77th police academy class to graduate from the Springfield Police Department and is sure to be a memorable one due to its diversity in both gender and background.
