NEW YORK - TelAve -- Ivonne A-Baki, a candidate for Secretary-General of the United Nations, joined HUMN founder Karla Ballard on October 13, 2026 for "The Human Future: AI, Peace & The Next United Nations," a live global conversation presented by Blockchain Week - UNGA Edition.

A-Baki described the night that shaped her life. Living through the war in Lebanon with three young children, she was descending to a shelter in the dark when her three-year-old daughter asked, "Mommy, are we going to die?" She promised that if they survived, "I will dedicate my life for peace."

On artificial intelligence, she said: "It's not artificial because it's human intelligence," adding, "We invented the machine. We program it. We can be using it for the good." She called for a United Nations that returns to its purpose: "It was created to prevent wars, not to solve wars." Recalling her role as the only woman negotiating peace between Ecuador and Peru, she said: "What is needed now is a mother."
