Hell - Fact or Fiction (Part I) The Great Deception: From Cosmic Rebellion to Modern Denial

TAMPA, Fla. - TelAve -- There is a dangerous trend among many modern Christian leaders who, either through ignorance or intent, fail to preach on the biblical doctrine of hell. By avoiding the harsher, less easily digested elements of scripture, they teach what Moses termed "smooth things". They claim a loving God would never sentence people to a literal place of torment. However, Jesus spoke more about the reality of hell than He did about heaven, emphasizing it as a real location to be avoided at all costs.

To understand hell, one must look to its creation in the dateless past. Scripture outlines that a perfect creation in Genesis 1:1 was followed by a chaotic state in Genesis 1:2 due to the fall of Lucifer. Ezekiel 28 reveals that before his fall, Lucifer held a high position of honor as the "anointed cherub" assigned to guard God's throne room. He served as a priest and worship leader in the heavenly temple, wearing a magnificent breastplate containing nine of the twelve sacred gemstones. He was permitted to counterfeit the prophetic traits of nine tribes of Israel, but God strictly withheld three gems—the amethyst, agate, and ligure—ensuring Satan could never bear another's burdens, produce royal seed, or become an ultimate overcomer.

As Lucifer ministered, pride and covetousness filled his heart. He violated God's sacred trust and caused sin to infiltrate heaven by stirring up a rebellion among one-third of the angels, accusing God before the mount of the congregation. Because he committed all seven sins that the Lord absolutely hates, God excommunicated him from his priestly duties, rendering him completely unfit to minister in His presence.

When Lucifer refused to admit his error, war broke out in heaven. Jesus was not merely a spectator but was actively involved in casting this rebel down, declaring, "I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven". Stripped of his title as a bright morningstar, he became HaSatan (the adversary) and diabolos (the slanderer). It was during this prehistoric period of cosmic judgment that God established the bottomless pit (the Hebrew Tehome or deep), Tartarus, and the compartments of hell. As Matthew 25:41 reinforces, hell was originally prepared exclusively for the devil and his angels. While it was never intended for humanity, God's complete foreknowledge accounted for those who would ultimately choose to reject His plan of salvation and live lives ruled by Satan.
