BALTIMORE - TelAve -- For decades, science and religion have been framed as opposing forces, particularly regarding the origins of the universe. In a newly adapted three-part series based on the theological writings of LaShawn Washington, "The Big Bang Blunder Series" challenges this division. Part one explores how modern cosmological discoveries unexpectedly mirror the biblical account in Genesis Chapter One.

Astrophysicists theorize that approximately 15 billion years ago, the universe burst into existence from an incredible explosion of matter and energy. To study this, NASA launched the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP), an unmanned space probe designed to measure the heat left over from the early universe. WMAP provided scientists with the most accurate measurements of the cosmic microwave background to date, offering deep insights into how the universe began and evolved.

Interestingly, the foundational sequence established by modern cosmology does not contradict the biblical timeline. Scientists agree that the basic cosmic progression moved from light to energy, followed by mass and matter. This matches Genesis 1:1-3 precisely, where God commands light into existence before the physical sun and stars were created on the fourth day. This primeval light of creation, brought forth by God's spoken voice, serves as the true catalyst for the physical universe.

Furthermore, modern scientific experimentation with frequencies reveals that physical substances can be transformed purely by sound waves, showing that tangible matter consists of underlying wave patterns. Scripture reinforces this physical reality: Psalm 33:6 states that by the word of the Lord the heavens were made, while Hebrews 11:3 clarifies that the visible world was framed by things that do not appear. The cosmos was literally spoken into existence, framed by the invisible sound waves of God's voice.

The three-part series will continue tomorrow by examining the mysterious nature of cosmic dark matter through the lens of ancient scripture.
